THIS week has been a busy week for gamers, with Games Monster launching their exciting new Facebook application, and Why Buy Games adding a massive 100 titles to their blu-ray rental stock!
Why Buy Blu-Ray
OUR friends at Why Buy Games, specialists in online games rental, have informed us that they are branching out into the world of film, adding another 100 Blu-Ray movies to their current tally of 56 titles.
Paul Billington-Dykes, one of the company’s founders, told ChooseDVDRental.co.uk exclusively that they have spotted in a gap in the market to offer Blu-Ray games for rent.
"Since Blu-Ray has recently become the industry standard, WhyBuyGames.co.uk has seen a gap in the market to offer Blu-Ray DVD rental as part of their service. "With a library of around 200 Blu-Ray DVDs, we predict that the addition of this new service will count for 20% of our annual turnover," said Mr Billington-Dykes.
Why Buy Games was established in 2005 by games, for gamers. Why Buy Games offers one of the UK’s largest selection of rental subscription video games.
For less than £10 a month, members have unlimited access to Why Buy Games’ huge selection of video game rentals and now a number of Blu-Ray disks, in as little as one business day.
To help you get started, Why Buy Games is recommending Eastern Promise, Resident Evil: Extinction, Run, Fat Boy, Run and Ratatouille. It is worth noting that you will not be able to play a Blu-Ray disk on either a standard DVD player, or an HD-DVD player.
Games Monster Launch Facebook Application
FOLLOWING its recent re-launch, online games rental website Games Monster this week unveiled its new Facebook application, which allows customers to manage and update their playlist from the ‘comfort’ of Facebook.
If you are Facebook literate, and would like to add the application, you can find it here.
Games Monster has also decided to increase the functionality of the new application, and within the coming month customers will be able to browse and add titles to their playlist without leaving Facebook.
Games Frenzy Bargains on Ebay
NOPE. Online games renters Games Frenzy haven’t packed up shop and moved to Ebay. However they are selling a selection of top, ex-rental games on the auction website.
Games Rental websites have been selling off their old stock for ages; it’s yesterday’s news. However the top notch bargains that Games Frenzy is parting with are worth ranting about.
Some of our favourite movie based games, like Scarface, Batman Begins, Open Season, Happy Feet and the Da Vinci Code are going for under a pound (excluding postage).
Most of the games do tend to be a couple of years old, and the majority are for the PS2 console.
However if you’re looking for some cheap games to while away the long weekends, Games Frenzy’s ex-rental auction section of their website could be the place to look!
Jesse James Tops Love Film Charts
THIS week the film The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford is the number one queue add of LoveFilm customers. American Gangster and Run, Fat Boy, Run are also doing well, taking second and third place respectively.
Jason Norris, the Online Marketing Manager of DVD rental giant LoveFilm exclusively points out to us the reasons he believes these longer than average films are proving so popular amongst customers.
“You can see the Jesse James movie is doing well. It was not massive at the box office and is 3 hours long, so should find better results among our passionate film lovers. They can enjoy this one at home instead.
“American gangster is also about 2 ½ hours long, so you can see our members like to watch these types of films knowing they can pause if the kids need to be put to bed or the cat let out,” he added.
Other high fliers on the list this week include Stardust, vampire flick 30 Days of Night, and the ChooseDVDRental team’s favourite, I Am Legend.
