Lovefilm are enticing football foes by offering free use of their online player during the World Cup.
From June 11th the promotion dubbed "Extra Time" will allow Lovefilm customers to use their LoveFilm Player which has thousands of films and TV programs available to stream online.
The Player is usually only available to Lovefilm's unlimited account holders.
The player's library includes new releases such as Sherlock Holmes and The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus as well as classics like The Godfather.
Simon Morris, chief marketing officer at LoveFilm, said: "This is the biggest ever digital promotion and a first of its kind in the UK."
"This month-long trial is a great way to highlight our full DVD and digital streaming hybrid offering to give more choice, value and convenience to our members."
Lovefilm or Love Football?
It won't take genius to work out that - with thousands watching the football during the World Cup - DVD rental companies and cinemas are likely to see downturn in business during the tournament.
The Extra Time promotion will no doubt appeal to those looking to get away from the football - the archetypal disgruntled wife springs to mind - but could just as easily appeal to the hardened football fanatic, Zidane - a 21st Century Portrait anyone?
Lovefilm Deals
The Extra Time promotion will run for a month - exactly as long as Lovefilm's DVD rental free trial
Remember the 30-day trial is only available through ChooseDVDrental though - through the Lovefilm site it's only two weeks.
To take advantage of the Extra Time offer you can sign up to any of Lovefilms rental packages.
The cheapest is £3.99 and that allows the user to rent out two discs a month, limited to one at a time.
The lighter packages would be ideal for any one just looking to take advantage of the Extra Time offer but for the film fans who see this at as the best opportunity to sign up to Lovefilm there are plenty of unlimited packages to take advantage of.
Unlimited rentals start from £9.99 with users being able to take out one film at a time but as many as they want in the month.
For £15.99 users can rent out three discs at a time with no limit to the amount that can be rented during the month period.
Anyone looking to avoid the world cup this summer Lovefilm has provided the best opportunity to watch films online all from just £3.99 a month.
Now, let's hope there's no extra time or penalties for England during the world cup.
