THIS week sees exciting new developments for iPhone users who love movies, another arrest made in the crackdown against pirates and the long-awaited release of Tutti Frutti on DVD.

NetFlix Plans Movies to iPhone?

US rental giant NetFlix are turning the wheels of the rumor mill this week after reports from Multichannel News suggest that a service to stream movies to the iPhone and the Nintendo Wii could be in the pipeline.

At the moment, Netflix subscribers can already stream movies and TV shows directly to their computers, so a portable version would certainly be welcomed by users.

Wired have speculated that the technology may allow direct downloads to an iPhone, more likely through a Wi-Fi connection, rather than through the phone network's 3G system.

Of course, this has to get past Apple's app store bods first who have been a bit slap-happy recently with rejecting some major apps that are similar in functionality to iTunes.

As yet the speculation resides firmly in the USA but if it gets the go-ahead it could pave the way for firms in the UK like LoveFilm or Blockbuster.

It's all very exciting but it does begs the question: which is more annoying on the bus - dodgy rap music or High School Musical 3?

FileSoup Sharer Arrested

A British man, known online as 'Geeker' has been arrested for his involvement in file-sharing website, FileSoup.

The man was taken into custody last week following a police raid on his home and has been released on bail.

FileSoup, which was started by 'Geeker' in 2003, does not actually host any illegal content.

It consists of forums where users can post links to downloadable movies and TV shows. Until 2005, the website operated as a 'tracker' site, much like The Pirate Bay, but this was stopped in favor of a forum set-up.

'Geeker' was arrested on suspicion of downloading copyrighted movies, and a number of items were seized from his home following the raid including laptops, hard drives and CDs, as highlighted by a post he made on the FileSoup site following his release.

British law is currently quite ambiguous as to what kinds of file-sharing sites are illegal.

Tutti Frutti to be released on DVD

In good news for nostalgic types, cult Scottish TV show Tutti Frutti has been released on DVD, 21 years after it was first screened.

The six-part series, which starred Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson tells the story of The Majestics - a band on its final tour around the country.

The show, which was only ever repeated once on BBC 1 is a cult classic for many and fans have lobbied for years for its release on DVD, which was hampered by contractual issues with the original soundtrack.

The show's stars, Coltrane and Thompson, even tried to buy the series so that they would be able to release it.

Tutti Frutti is available to rent from both LoveFilm and Blockbuster.
