THIS week sees The Pirate Bay in the news yet again, the 'favourite film animal revealed, and a (somewhat paltry) army of postmen and women in rubber heads.
The Pirate Bay sells up and announces The Video Bay
MORE big news for the Swedes behind The Pirate Bay this week, after the announcement of a brand new video-streaming site was closely followed by the sale of the original Pirate Bay site.
The Pirate Bay has only just left the news following the world-famous trial of its four Swedish owners in a legal battle about copyright infringement.
Despite being fined and sentenced to a year in prison The Pirate Bay boys intend to release The Video Bay - a rival to YouTube which will allow the streaming of videos without copyright restriction.
Barely a day after announcing the impending arrival of The Video Bay, the owners announced they were handing the helm to Swedish gaming company Global Gaming Factory (GFF) for the sum of 60m kroner (£4.7m).
It is not known whether the sale will affect The Video Bay but with the owners looking at a lengthy stay behind bars, it looks like this ship may have sunk before it set sail.
Lovefilm survey votes Donkey as most-loved movie animal
DONKEY from the Shrek movies has this week been voted the most loved movie animal, according to a poll by online DVD rental giants LoveFilm to mark the release of Ice Age 3.
The character, voiced by Eddie Murphy, and famous for always making an ass of himself (see what we did there?) won a place in film-lovers hearts and topped the poll with over 25% of the vote.
"We challenge any film fan not to love the Donkey character from the Shrek movies," said Fliss White from LoveFilm.
Coming in second was Simba the lion cub from Disney's The Lion King, closely followed by Baloo from another Disney classic, The Jungle Book.
Forgetful Dory, voiced by Ellen Degeneres from the DisneyPixar flick Finding Nemo swam her way into fourth place.
Other film favourites that featured in the top ten were Dumbo, Sid the Sloth and Lassie.
Lovefilm tries to celebrate 1m subscribers
FROM the polls to your postbox, LoveFilm were responsible for some Royal Mail customers having to rub their eyes over their early-morning coffee after having their mail delivered by the likes of Shrek.
To celebrate reaching their millionth customer, LoveFilm teamed up with the Royal Mail to encourage their posties to dress up as famous film characters.
LoveFilm also reported deliveries by Star Wars' Storm Troopers and Batman, who presumably swapped his Batmobile for a little red van.
"We're delighted Royal Mail has marked our milestone by encouraging its postmen and women to deliver their rounds dressed as their favourite film characters," said Simon Calver, CEO of LoveFilm.
We somehow suspect that the idea didn't exactly catch on. Delivering post is tough enough, without doing it all day stuck in a sweaty rubber Shrek head.
Did anyone actually see their postman dressed up? Why not drop us a line.
