THIS week we bring you the top 10 DVDs and Blu-ray titles you need in your rental queue this spring, along with the low-down on who received notoriety for their terrible contribution to film over the last year.

Top 10 films to kick start your DVD rental queue

GRAB a friend, relative or large cushion this week, as you may want to hide behind them. Topping the most popular list this week is creepy sequel Saw V, with equally scary Eden Lake lagging behind.

If full-on horror isn't your bag, then be sure to catch the thrillers on the list which include Taken and 88 Minutes, starring Al Pacino. Definitely not to be missed is Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance in The Dark Knight.

Comedy tops our list this week, starting with the sounds-scary-but-it-isn't Ghost Town which tells the tale of a man who wakes up and can suddenly see ghosts. Plenty of comedy double-acts too – catch Jack Black and Ben Stiller in Tropic Thunder, or Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Stepbrothers. Guy Ritchie's British flick RocknRolla is worth a watch, and you can also grab the delectable Brad Pitt in Burn After Reading.

...or if you're into Blu-ray
The line-up for most popular Blu-ray titles this week remains quite similar, with Saw V, The Dark Knight, Ghost Town, Tropic Thunder, RocknRolla and Burn After Reading featuring.

It includes family friendly Disney Pixar flick Wall-E, and some more comedy in the shape of Get Smart.

Will Smith's latest, Hancock features on the most popular list this week, along with sci-fi thriller Death Race.

Looks like a busy week for film buffs!

Unlimited DVD and Blu-ray rental with LoveFilm starts from £9.78 per month, or with not even a whisker between them on price, unlimited DVD and Blu-ray rental with Blockbuster from £9.78 a month too.

2009 Razzie awards go to...

WITH the excitement and glamour of the Oscars over for another year, it was time for the annual Golden Raspberry Awards (or Razzies).

Razzies are awarded to the worst of the worst in the film industry over the last year, and topping the winners (or should that be losers?) this year is America's favourite famous-for-not-being-talented-celeb Paris Hilton.

She raked in a total of 3 Razzies, including both the Worst Actress and Worst Supporting actress for her dire roles in The Hottie and the Nottie and Repo! The Opera. Though on the bright side, she's probably happy that she finally made a film that wasn't one of her famous straight-to-DVD releases or filmed in night-vision.

Mike Myers' The Love Guru also bagged a trio of awards, for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and it earned Myers the Worst Actor award. The Love Guru, which scored an embarrassing 14% on rottentomatoes.com involves Oprah, chastity belts and the end of Myer's career.

The long-awaited Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull got the award for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, while Pierce Brosnan took the award for Worst Supporting Actor in Mamma Mia!

German director Uwe Boll scooped the final two awards for Worst Director and Worst Career Achievement.

If you're up for a night of serious DVD rental viewing, then these titles are probably not for you, but the winning line-up makes for a great night of so-bad-it's-good viewing.

And finally...if you want to win something this week...
TO celebrate its release, Blockbuster are giving away 20 copies of Righteous Kill starring Al Pacino and Robert de Niro.

They're offering 10 copies on DVD and 10 on Blu-ray - to be in with a chance of winning, head over to the Blockbuster website, or e-mail competitions@blockbuster.com with the answer to the following question: Which of the following movies also stars screen legends Robert De Niro and Al Pacino? a) Body of Lies, b) Fight Club, c) The Score or d) Heat

The closing date is 16th March, so get a move on!
