FRESHLY launched with the backing of Empire Magazine - the UK's number one movie magazine - the Empire movie club offers DVDs to rent with a large side-order of movie news and reviews.
The film buff's choice also offers a two-week free trial and free cinema tickets for six months but are they any good?
Great Empire magazine site
Like The Guardian's Sofa Cinema DVD rental the big draw of renting from Empire is their impeccable movie site Empireonline.
The Empire site is packed with high quality features, sleb interviews and reviews of all the latest releases.
What sets it apart from other great DVD rental sites such as Lovefilm though is not only quality opinion (Lovefilm don't criticise films. ever.) but a veritable treasure trove of information plus a small army of film obsessives on hand to answer your every whim in the forum.
We don't think it's too sentimental to suggest that supporting print media might motivate some people to sign up too.
Freebies
As incentives go a 30-day free trial is pretty great and it's exclusive to Choose, if you go to the Empire site it's just two weeks.
Just bear in mind, if you do decide just to go for a free trial, that you make sure you cancel in good time to avoid being charged as this is a problem that's plagued OutNow users in the past (see below).
There are also free movie tickets for the first six months.
Unfortunately, it's only one ticket a month - you won't be wearing down the seats of your local multiplex for free just yet - but, not to sound like old people, the cinema is expensive: if a cinema ticket is £7.50 you're saving £45.

That's the (unequivocally) good stuff.
The company that runs Empire movie club - OutNow DVD rental - has somewhat of a chequered past.
Though they're on the up and up now - with a whole new staff, a planned website re-design and a resolution of their postal problems - we're still advising caution at this point.
Having said that, our early testing of the service has shown not only a fast and reliable DVD rental service but one with friendly customer service too.
