Review of Gamesmonster Game Rental
WELL thought-out, well designed, reasonably well-stocked and a real winner with customer service, the Gamesmonster games rental service is a credit to the games rental industry.
New generation games rental
GamesMonster famously only used to cater for next gen consoles (ie. Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3) but we're thrilled to see they have now added PS2, PSP and DS titles to their catalogue - shunting it up to around a healthy 2000 titles in total.
What's more, Gamesmonster has tackled head-on many of the frustrations associated with online games rental:
Poor design? Gamesmonster's slick, clean interface and excellent navigation tools make finding, browsing and choosing a game feel like fun.
Useless queue system? Gamesmonster shows you real-time availability, so you can readjust it accordingly using a brilliant drag 'n' drop interface.
Concerns about age restricted games for your child? Simply set up the Gamesmonster parental controls which prevent unsuitable games being added to the Gamesmonster playlist.
What's more, Gamesmonster's new Facebook application allows you to manage your games rental playlist (or queue) using the same Gamesmonster interface without leaving Facebook. While the number of people using this application is low, it is a superb idea and we commend Gamesmonster for their pioneering steps in this direction. We bet our bottom dollar that other rental companies will be doing the same before you can say 'bleedin' copycats!'
Email support only
While Gamesmonster does not offer telephone support, we are thrilled to see that GamesMonster's email support - via an easy-to-use online form on the site - is almost instantaneous and very helpful.
And don't lets forget about the new Gamesmonster forum which is already proving to be a reasonably vibrant community for Gamesmonster users.
Thoughtful parents or generous friends will be pleased to see that Gamesmonster is now offering Gift Vouchers, allowing you to buy 3 or 6 month subscription packages as a gift. This makes them currently the only dedicated games rental site offering gift subscriptions.
Screenshots of in-game action
Gamesmonster also score big with the inclusion of in-game screenshots for all of its games, as well as access to the instructions and manuals. If you want to buy and keep any game you've rented, Gamesmonster will send you the case and instructions.
Long waits for top titles
The only place the Gamesmonster service falls down on is availability of titles with often overlong waiting periods for popular choices.

Showing when a title in your Gamesmonster queue is due to be posted to you - a major bonus and something we'd love to see on all sites.
