RENTGAMESONLINE gives you access to one of the UK's largest selection of games to rent: over 2,100 games titles, for GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Xbox 360.
As yet, RentGamesOnline inexplicably do not offer PS3 games for rental, but they assure us this could change in time (they have been saying that for almost a year now though, so PS3'ers: dont hold your breath!).
Fast and easy
With a reasonably well constructed rental site and competitive games rental subscription rates, RentGamesOnline gives you fast and easy access to all the games your thumbs could ever wish to play!
The RentGamesOnline main page features the latest releases for all consoles and we're pleased to report that these remain impressively up to date. Not that it should be any other way, but in this industry it is not unusual to see Daley Thomson's Decathlon (circa 1984) still featured as a new release. OK, its not quite that bad, but almost!
Games are neatly broken down into genres and sub-genres, which makes browsing the RentGamesOnline site a breeze.
One should never underestimate the importance of easy browsing with a games rental service. After all, once you have used up the games you most want to play, the ability to browse and be inspired becomes the über-important.
Unfortunately not all of RentGamesOnline's games - in particular the less popular, or older titles - carry descriptions on the site, so you will have to do some research, take a chance, or know what you're looking for.
On the plus side all games do show the age rating as well as a customer star ratings - or in this case, 'cube' ratings.
Member forums
RentGamesOnline's new member forums are a nice touch and potentially a great way to swap ideas and strategies with other like-minded gamers (or perhaps, more realistically, have a bitch 'n' moan about availability of top titles if RGO slip up on this).
However, with a zillion other games forums on the web, the RentGamesOnline forums are kind of quiet at the moment and some of the sub-forums are in desperate need of a moderator to clear out the spam. Worse still, the forum was out of action at last check, and has remained so for quite a while now - never a good sign in an industry where smaller players are going under on an almost monthly basis.
The rental games from RentGamesOnline generally only come with the in-game controls and instructions, but RentGamesOnline are also regularly adding printable versions for a selection of titles.
RentGamesOnline get two-thumbs up for:
RentGamesOnline's logical, clean design, and the ease of searching by console and game or by category.
